Codes of Conduct

This code is designed:

F  To emphasise the elements of enjoyment and satisfaction to junior players and coaches involved in soccer.

F  To make adults including parents and coach’s aware that young player’s play soccer to satisfy themselves and not necessarily to satisfy adults or members of their own peer group.

F  To improve the overall health and fitness of Australia’s youth by encouraging participation in soccer and making it attractive, safe and enjoyable for all to play.

F  To remind administrator’s, coach’s, referee’s and parents that soccer must be administered, taught and provided, for the good of those young people who wish to play soccer, as ultimately “It is their game”.

Coaches

The principles below should be used as a guide (but not limited to) for Coaches as members of Eschol Park Football Club:

  • Adhere to the Clubs Equal Playing Opportunities Policy.   Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience.   All junior players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
  • Avoid overplaying the talented players, the just average need and deserve equal time.
  • Be reasonable in the demands of your players.
  • Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players.   Follow the advice of a physician (if available) when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition.
  • Operate within the rules of the game and teach your players to do the same.
  • Demonstrate respect for team mates, opponents, match officials and team officials.   Your Players are most likely very young and impressionable, if they see you doing it, they will believe that is the correct thing to do.
  • Plan training so that Players are learning by doing.   Too much talking creates boredom.
  • Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed of sound coaching principals.   Schedule training and competition for the maturity and level of the Players.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards appropriate for the age and ability of the Players.
  • Never argue with or publicly question the Referees or Assistant Referees judgement or honesty.   If you disagree, approach the official during a break or after the game to seek clarification.
  • Eliminate verbal and physical abuse from all sporting activities.   Refer to the Child Protection Act 1998.   Breaches of this Act will not be tolerated by the Committee.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Remember the Coach and Manager are part of the team and should support each other.

Team Managers

The principles below should be used as a guide (but not limited to) for Managers as members of Eschol Park Football Club:

  • Operate within the rules of the game and teach your players to do the same.
  • Demonstrate respect for team mates, opponents, match officials and team officials.   Your Players are most likely very young and impressionable, if they see you doing it, they will believe that is the correct thing to do.
  • Never argue with or publicly question the Referees or Assistant Referees judgement or honesty.   If you disagree, approach the official during a break or after the game to seek clarification.
  • Be reasonable in the demands of your Players.
  • Eliminate verbal and physical abuse from all sporting activities.   Refer to the Child Protection Act 1998.   Breaches of this Act will not be tolerated by the Committee.
